Winos for Rhinos

Help save rhinos while you sample some wine! Please join us for EARTH Ltd’s Winos for Rhinos fundraiser. All ticket proceeds from this event will be donated to Project Rhino. Project Rhino is an association of like-minded organizations facilitating rhino conservation interventions aimed at elimination rhino poaching and securing the white and black rhino populations of KwaZulu-Natal.

The event, presented by EARTH Limited and Southwick’s Zoo, will take place in Galliford’s Restaurant & Tavern’s function room located in the lower level of the restaurant. The zoo’s Soaring Eagle Zipline will be available for $10/ride from 5:00pm-6:00pm, and all zipline proceeds will be donated to Project Rhino. A cash bar will also be available during the event.

Event guests will enjoy South African wines generously donated by Carolina Wine and Spirits, a Division of Martignetti Companies,  and light appetizers while learning about rhinoceros conservation. Appetizers will be provided by Galliford’s Restaurant & Tavern, Pepperoncini’s, and Whole Foods Market Bellingham.

Dr. Simon Morgan, Director of Wildlife ACT and Floating Chairman of Project Rhino will be presenting, as well as Betsey Brewer, Executive Director of EARTH Limited.

$25 – Nonmember
$20- EARTH Member

Ticket includes: Wine tasting, appetizers, and presentation. Each event guest will also be entered into a raffle to win a rhino encounter.

Note to EARTH members: To receive your member discount, click “enter promotional code” when you purchase tickets. Your code is the first 5 letters of your last name + the first 2 letters of your first name. Example: John Smith=SMITHJO. If your last name is fewer than 5 letters, just use your full last name + the first 2 letters of your first name.

Winos for Rhinos FAQ

Will tickets be available at the door?

This event has a limited number of tickets, so they will only be available at the door if not sold out. We strongly recommend purchasing tickets in advance online.

Where should I park? Where do I go for the event’s check in?

Please park in the larger lot across the street, unless you require handicap parking which is available in front of the restaurant’s entrance.

When you arrive, enter through the gate to the left of Galliford’s Restaurant & Tavern. Please either have your ticket printed or have the ticket pdf open on your phone.

What is the schedule for the evening?

5:00pm-6:00pm: Check-in and Zipline Rides
Please have your tickets printed or open on your phone. The Soaring Eagle Zipline will be available from 5:00-6:00pm for $10. All Zipline proceeds will be donated to Project Rhino.

6:00pm-7:00pm: Wine Tasting
Guests will sample South African wines.

6:00pm-8:00pm:  Appetizers & Cash Bar
Light appetizers will be available for all guests, and a cash bar will also be available for those who want a full size drink.

7:00pm: Presentation by Dr.Simon Morgan, director of Wildlife ACT and chairman of Project Rhino

Learn about the current rhino poaching crisis and what can be done to help. Betsey Brewer, Executive Director of EARTH Limited, will also speak about EARTH Limited at Southwick’s Zoo’s ongoing rhino conservation project.

Does the ticket include zoo admission?

Winos for Rhinos takes place after the zoo’s normal hours and does not include admission for the day. If you would like to visit the zoo prior to the event, you will need to purchase zoo tickets.

If you do visit the zoo the day of the event, please be aware that at 5:00pm you will need to exit the zoo and enter through the restaurant’s entrance to check in.

Can I bring my children?

Sorry, since the event is a wine tasting, it is 21+ only.

Will food be available?

We will have light appetizers available for event guests. Galliford’s Restaurant & Tavern will be open until 9:00pm that night if you wish to order food after the tasting and presentation. If you want to dine-in, we strongly recommend calling in advance at 508-928-0928 to inquire about making a reservation.
