2014 Summer Programs

The Wild Adventure Summer Programs at Southwick’s Zoo features: daily interactive activities; exposure to over 120 species of wild and exotic animals; over 200 acres of wetlands, forests, and native habitats; arts and crafts; morning and afternoon snacks.

Summer Program, EARTH Ltd., Mendon, MA

ANIMAL BEHAVIOR
Grades 2 and 3

June 23rd – June 27th
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
$300 non-Members / $260 Members

July 14th – July 18th
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
$300 non-Members / $260 Members

This action packed program has something for everyone. Each day students will investigate a new group of animals and learn about their behaviors. Students will use the information they learn to explore all parts of Southwick’s Zoo.

ADVENTURE and ECO-SYSTEMS
Grades 4, 5 and 6

July 7th – July 11th

July 28th – August 1st
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
$300 non-Members / $260 Members

This program is a hands on experience, where students explore all the animals at Southwick’s Zoo, using climate zones as their tools.

INTRODUCTION TO ANIMAL ECOLOGY
Grades 1 and 2

July 21st – July 25th
9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
$165 non-Members / $140 Members

Grades K and 1 *NEW*

August 11th – August 15th
9:00 a.m. – noon
$150 non-Members / $135  Members

This is a half (1/2) day program designed to introduce the basics of animal ecology.

TEEN ZOOLOGY
Grades 7 and 8

August 4th – August 8th
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
$375 non-Members / $325 Members

This is an excursion program for teens who are interested in careers related to animal care or zoology. Possible trips include:

  • Tufts Veterinary School
  • Whale Watch
  • Blackstone River Cruise
  • Day at Southwick’s Zoo
  • Kennel Visit
  • New England Owl Exploration Day
  • More options TBA

Program Requirements:

Water bottle, lunch, sunscreen, insect repellent, hat/visor, backpack (to include extra clothing such as socks, t-shirt, sweatshirt, old sneakers, rain coat)
